Write your Own Obituary & Legacy Letter Writing
Introduction to Guided Autobiography Workshop
Determine how you will be remembered by writing your own obituary and establishing what you want on your gravemarker. Why leave this to chance? Plus, it will be a huge gift to your family to have it written and decided before you die. One less thing for them to worry over.
We will also cover writing Legacy Letters so you can let the people you love and care about know how you feel about them, and pass on your values that are not typically shared in a Last Will and Testament. These can be given now, or the recipient can be given the letter after your death.
This is a five hour, two session class. You'll have two weeks between the first 3 hour class and second 2 hour session to compose your obit and write one Legacy Letter. You will need at least 4 hours writing time between classes. The second class we will hear each other's work and receive feedback. We will learn a great deal in the process.
A workshop to introduce a group of neighbors, friends, co-workers to GAB (Guided Autobiography takes two hours. You'll learn about GAB, it's history, the way it works with sensitizing questions around a theme, and do several writing prompts. We'll have the opportunity to share what we have written with the group.
This is a great way to test the waters and see if GAB is a good fit for you, without committing to a 7 class session.
Class needs 6 to go, $50 per person. Contact Mimi to set up a two hour workshop.
Class needs 4 to go, is capped at 6. $50 per person.
Winter 2025 has one class series scheduled:
Sunday February 9, 1-4 pm and Sunday February 23, 1-3 pm on Zoom Central Time.
Selling on Facebook Marketplace (FBMP)
I have been focused on downsizing this year. I set myself a goal of posting 7 or 8 items for sale a day on Facebook Marketplace starting January 1, so I could hit 50 items weekly. I now have 600 listings! Better yet, I have sold over 300 items and made over $9,000! No, I don't have a moving date yet which means I can just keep renewing my listings until the right person finds my item!
I am offering a two part class with all that I have learned: __ how to research what similar items are selling for __ how to keep records of what you have listed __ how to keep track of your items for sale so you can find items easily when a buyer wants the item __ how to check that the interested buyer is legit __ how to safely meet your customer at a neutral spot, or at their car in front of your house __ how to include all the info in a listing so interested buyers aren't driving you crazy with questions __ when to take the time to ship items and how to figure postage costs __ and, most importantly, is this effort something you want to undertake!
I'll have a powerpoint presentation with screen shots that I'll send you a copy of a few days before our first session. After introducing ourselves, I will do my presentation with questions. In the remaining time I will demonstrate how to do post a listing live on FB. You'll have two weeks before the second class to get items posted to FB MP. You will be invited to join a closed FB group to continue our conversations about selling on FB MPSecond meeting we will share progress and frustrations and troubleshoot; we may not need the whole two hours. Class is capped at 10. Needs 6 to go.
How to Sell on Facebook Marketplace (FB MP) is offered on Zoom Sunday January 19 from 1-3 pm Central time and Sunday February 2 from 1-3 pm Central Time. Cost is $40. You can look at items for sale on FB MP without having a Facebook account. Check out my many listings under Mimi Holmes in Minneapolis, MN.
